TRAINING

In addition to the listed training classes below, the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club provides one on one instruction by appointment for Basic Pistol, Basic Rifle, Basic Shotgun and Nevada C.C.W. permit. The Nevada and Utah Concealed Firearm Permit class have statutory training requirements for content and duration. The N.R.A. classes have Organizational requirements for training content and duration. All other classes are conducted at the pace of the students, the times listed are for reference.

Nevada Concealed Carry Weapon and Utah Concealed Firearm Permits Class

The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club provides two combined Nevada Concealed Carry Weapon ( C.C.W. ) and Utah Concealed Firearm classes per year. The C.C.W. classes are held in Spring and Fall each year. The C.C.W. class consists of 8 hours of classroom instruction on Saturday, 4 mores of classroom for the second permit and 4 hours of range time on Sunday. During the range time, one on one instruction is provided in the safe handling of the students C.C.W. firearm(s) and the methods required to complete the C.C.W. course of fire.

The C.C.W. classes meet all of the requirements for the State of Nevada and Clark County. The certifying agency is the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept. For further information contact L.V. Metro Police. Permit paperwork will be supplied.

The C.C.W. classes meet all of the requirements for the State of Utah. The certifying agency is the Utah Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Identification. Permit paperwork will be supplied.

The C.C.W. class costs $80 for single permit, $120 for both permits. . For two or more students that register together, a $10 discount is offered per student. An additional $10 fee for each group of 4 pistols above the first four. The age limitation is 21 and you must or your spouse must own all pistols for the Nevada permit. The Nevada permit requires each semi-automatic pistol be qualified with by make, model and caliber, but only one revolver qualification is required for all revolvers. The Utah permit requires either a revolver or semi-automatic pistol or both.

Concealed Carry Weapon Frequently Asked Questions

  1. If you have a permit, do you have to take all of the training?
     Yes, all states require full training for their permit in their designated instruction.
  2. Can a married couple put the same gun or guns on their Nevada Permit?
     Yes.
  3. Can two people not married to each other put the same gun or guns on their Nevada Permit?
     No.
  4. Revolver requirement for Nevada?
     One revolver qualification coves all revolvers, derringers and other none semi-automatic pistols.
  5. Semi-Automatic Pistol requirements for Nevada?
     Nevada requires qualification by Make, Model and Caliber of semi-automatic pistols.
  6. Utah pistol action requirements?
     None. Utah permits the person, not the firearms.
  7. How is the class scheduled?
     All Utah class requirements are completed on Saturday.
     The Nevada law requirements are completed on Sunday morning.
     Both state permit range requirements are completed on Sunday afternoon.
  8. If I am doing one permit, do I have to stay through all of the classroom training?
     No.
     A Nevada permit only student can leave between 3 and 3:30 PM on Saturday.
     A Utah permit only student only comes to the afternoon range session on Sunday.
  9. If I do not make all of the required sessions can I still pass the class?
     No.
  10. What is the passing grades?
     For the written tests for both states: 70 percent.
     For the range qualifications: 70 percent.
  11. Why the factory ammunition requirement?
     For safety reasons. Several firearms have been destroyed by home loads during the first few years of doing these classes.
  12. How are breaks and meals handled during the class?
     On Saturday, a one hour break for lunch is taken. It is enough time to go into town for lunch.
     On Sunday, please bring your lunch. There will only be a 30 minute break between the class room and range.
     Breaks are taken every 60 - 90 minutes based on the material.

Tactical Pistol I Class

The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club provides two Tactical Pistol I classes per year. The Tactical Pistol I are held in Spring and Fall each year. The Tactical Pistol I class consists of 10 hours of range instruction Saturday and another 4 hours of range instruction on Sunday. During the range time, the students will be taught how to do the following; presentation, emergency and tactical Reload, how to handle the three most common malfunctions, close sighting techniques, one handed firing, multiple targets, flashlight techniques, alternate firing positions, vertical and horizontal barriers, basic fire on the move, presentation from concealment, man-on-man competition and simulator time.

The Tactical Pistol I class is designed to take the pistol shooter to the next level after they have completed a state C.C.W. class or similar introductory training.

The Tactical Pistol I class costs $300 with a $50 discount to club members. The class size is limited to 10 students.

Tactical Pistol II Class

The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club provides one Tactical Pistol II class per year. The Tactical Pistol II is held in Spring of each year. The Tactical Pistol II class consists of 10 hours of range instruction Saturday and another 4 hours of range instruction on Sunday. During the range time, after a review of presentation, the students will work the reminder of the class from concealment and be taught how to do the following; close body emergency and tactical Reload, fire on the move along multiple axis of attack, multiple prone positions, support hand presentation and firing, night multiple targets, alternate firing positions, curb to short wall height barriers, man-on-man competition and simulator time.

The Tactical Pistol II class is designed to take the pistol shooter to the next level after they have completed a Tactical Pistol I class or similar training with the focus on getting out of the square range mentality.

The Tactical Pistol II class costs $300 with a $50 discount to club members. The class size is limited to 10 students.

Tactical Carbine Class

The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club provides one Tactical Carbine class per year on even numbered years. The Tactical Carbine is held in the fall of the year. The Tactical Carbine class consists of 10 hours of range instruction Saturday and another 4 hours of range instruction on Sunday. During the range time, after a review of pistol presentation, the students will work the reminder of the class both the Tactical Carbine and Pistol and be taught how to do the following; emergency and tactical Reload, how to handle the three most common malfunctions, fire on the move along multiple axis of attack, alternative shooting positions, emergency pistol presentation and firing, night multiple targets, alternate firing positions, various height barriers and simulator time.

The Tactical Carbine class is designed to take the student form the Tactical Pistol I class to the next level of personal defense in close quarter shooting.

The Tactical Carbine class costs $300 with a $50 discount to club members. The class size is limited to 10 students.

Tactical Shotgun Class

The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club provides one Tactical Shotgun class per year on odd numbered years. The Tactical Shotgun is held in the fall of the year. The Tactical Shotgun class consists of 10 hours of range instruction Saturday and another 4 hours of range instruction on Sunday. During the range time, after a review of pistol presentation, the students will work the reminder of the class both with both the Tactical Shotgun and Pistol and be taught how to do the following; emergency and tactical Reload, how to handle the three most common malfunctions, fire on the move along multiple axis of attack, alternative shooting positions, emergency pistol presentation and firing, night multiple targets, alternate firing positions, various height barriers and simulator time.

The Tactical Shotgun class is designed to take the student form the Tactical Pistol I class to the next level of personal defense in close quarter shooting.

The Tactical Shotgun class costs $300 with a $50 discount to club members. The class size is limited to 10 students.

Basic Pistol Instruction

For those who wish learn how to shoot a pistol and are concerned about the legalities of home defense, but do not want a C.C.W. permit. They may attend one of the C.C.W. Classes and receive the same training for $10. The age limitation is 18 and you do not have to own the pistol you bring to the class.

Optionally, you can contact the club and ask for individual training conducted on the range by one of our certified instructors as time permits.

Basic Rifle and Shotgun Instruction

At this time there is no regularly scheduled training event for either the rifle or shotgun. Such training can be arranged with the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club. Instructors and is available for small (2) to large (20) groups.

Rifle and Shotgun instruction costs $20 per student for adults, $10 per student for ages 14 - 18. Supervising adults required for students under 18 and you do not have to own the rifle or shotgun you bring to the class.

Optionally, you can contact the club and ask for individual training conducted on the range by one of our certified instructors as time permits.

N.R.A. Instructor Certification Instruction

The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club provides two N.R.A. Instructor Certification Classes per year. The Basic Rifle and Basic Shotgun Instructor Certification is held as one class at the end of the year. The Basic Pistol and Personal Protection Instructor Certification is held as one class at the beginning of the year. Both classes consist of two 10 hour days held on Saturday and Sunday, with range time.

N.R.A. Instructor Certification instruction costs $150 per student for one certification, a second certification costs $200. Club members receive a discount of $50 on the first certification. Costs are per class.

N.R.A. Range Safety Officer Instruction

The Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club provides two N.R.A. Range Safety Officer Certification Classes per year. The Range Safety Officer Certification class is held as a one day class in the spring and the fall of the year. Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club Range Masters / Range Officers are required to complete this course and attend a session with the Chief Range Master. The session with the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club Chief Range Master is set up during the N.R.A. Range Safety Officer course.

N.R.A. Range Safety Officer Certification instruction costs $50 per student.

N.R.A. Home Firearm Safety Class

At this time there is no regularly scheduled training event for the N.R.A. Home Firearm Safety Class. The N.R.A. Home Firearm Safety Class is an classroom only session designed to familiarize the student with the basics of how to safely handle and unload a verity of firearms. Such training can be arranged with the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club. Instructors and is available for small (2) to large (20) groups.

N.R.A. Home Firearm Safety instruction costs $20 per student.

Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club Instructors

The instructors for the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club have certifications from the N.R.A. in Pistol, Personal Defense, Rifle, Shotgun, Home Firearm Safety, Chief Range Safety Officer, Range Safety Officer and Range Master. The State of Nevada Police Officers Standards Training. As well as other Nationally and Internationally recognized organizations.

All fees raised during training go into running the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club. All instructors are volunteers who donate their time and experience to making shooting safe and fun for all.
